I have struggled with health issues from birth. I was born with bronchitis and suffered from pneumonia and double pneumonia multiple times before I was 8 years old. Starting at 4 years old I started getting repeat ear infections that slowly built up scar tissue. By the time I was 6 years old I lost about 85% of my hearing. At this point the doctors finally figured out the infections were coming from my tonsils. After having them removed the infections stopped. The doctors told my mom the only solution to the hearing loss was surgery to remove the scar tissue but I would be lucky to wind up with 50% normal hearing. Fortunately my mom didn't accept that and began researching. She found the answer in the form of vitamin E oil drops in my ears several times a day for about 8 months. This worked very well and I got most of my hearing back. This was our first lesson that medical doctors don't have all the answers.
The next big health issue happed when I was 13 years old when I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis (MG). Once again my mom went the alternative route and took me to see a naturopathic doctor. This doctor put me on an elimination diet and mega doses of vitamins that put me in a remission that last almost 30 years. During my teen years I developed multiple issues with my joints starting with my knees. Issues with my knees would flare up every so often right up until I was 18 years old. When I was 19 I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, although back then it was called "manic depressive". I spent a few months in a mental hospital while they stabilized me on medication.
In the spring of 1986 I was in a near fatal motorcycle accident that almost cost me my right leg. I spent total of a year in a wheelchair including 3 months in the hospital while they rebuilt my leg and began physiotherapy on the other injured parts of my body. I was told it would take about 3 years to learn to walk normally again but I was unsatisfied with that answer and began to push myself. I managed it in a year.
In 1993 I began having issues with my neck. I later discovered it was osteoarthritis Fast forward a decade or so and I started getting sick again. in 2007 the first signs of something wrong began to affect my feet and my ability to swallow. That progressed to slurred speech, balance issues and trouble breathing. By the time I was officially diagnosed in 2012 with Myasthenia Gravis - again. Along the way they found several other autoimmune diseases. See the home page for a full list. I had also ballooned to 540 pounds by this point.
I was bed ridden for 10 years due to these autoimmune diseases and other serious health issues. At one time I was on 19 prescription medications treating a long list of health issues. Everything from morphine, immune suppressants, anti depressants, mestinon, several other kinds of pain meds and many drugs to manage side effects.
The main autoimmune diseases I dealt with were Myasthenia Gravis, Osteoarthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Sjogrens Disease, and Stenosis. I also had extremely high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, extreme obesity, bipolar disorder and others. My days consisted of sleeping 12 to 16 hours a day, eating, being helped to the bathroom. Bathing was so difficult I went over a year without a shower and several times I never left the apartment for a year or more. I needed a wheelchair to leave the apartment. Too many times I couldn’t make it to the bathroom or even out of bed before drug induced explosive diarrhea made a mess of everything. Falling asleep while trying to eat was a common occurrence. As you can imagine I contemplated suicide on multiple occasions.
One day I decided I had enough and began the process of getting off of all the pain killers, it was a long process lasting 9 months. After that I started working seriously on shedding weight. I tried supplements which helped get me started, then switched to a ketogenic diet. This did help me shed a lot of weight but it wasn’t enough. My weight shedding journey stalled and I still suffered from the autoimmune diseases. This is when I was led to the carnivore diet. This was Jan 16, 2023.
The results were almost immediate and profound. At first I got what we call “The Keto Flu”. This was mostly due to withdrawal from sugar and carbs as well as oxalate dumping. After two weeks I noticed the joint pain and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis disappeared seemingly overnight. Then at three weeks my Myasthenia Gravis symptoms went away. Blood tests and an appointment with my neurologist confirmed this a week later. So at one month carnivore I was officially declared in remission for Myasthenia Gravis and was taken off the last of my autoimmune medication. Over the following months my other autoimmune conditions seemed to go into remission as well. My other chronic health issues also began to heal one by one. About 6 months on carnivore even my bipolar disorder symptoms went away. Even my Asperger’s symptoms significantly lessened. My life had completely changed. At 8 months carnivore we moved out of my wheelchair accessible apartment of 13 years.
I still have weight to shed and I am facing possible neck and back surgery to repair damage left by some of the other autoimmune diseases, but my life has dramatically changed. Recently I’ve also been going through an intense program where I released tons of childhood trauma which has changed how I see the world and react to daily events in my life. My life has radically changed for the better. Dreams I had long since given up are now back on the table again. Without god, my wife and carnivore I could never have done this. Now I am compelled to help others find healing like I have.
Regardless of what "Medical Science" tells us, there is almost always a way to find some measure of healing and it's usually a very simple solution. Not necessarily easy, but usually quite simple.
